How to order

Each item in the store has its own page where you can add it to your shopping cart by first choosing a format (if required) and then clicking on the “add to cart” button. Once you’ve added items to your cart, you will be able to delete them from your cart entirely by clicking the small “x” at the beginning of the item’s row in the cart. After all of the items you wish to buy are in your cart, click the “Proceed To Checkout” button which you’ll find just below the items in your cart. This will take you to the checkout page where you’ll need to fill out the order form with the necessary info in order to complete your order. Orders usually ship within a few days.  Download links are delivered immediately via email as well as on the order confirmation page, and in your account history.

 

Privacy Policy

Information needed to purchase products online are as follows: name, shipping address, phone number, e-mail address and credit card. This information is used to process and follow up on your order. Rest assured, all your information will remain strictly confidential. We promise to protect your privacy and will never sell, share or distribute your personal information to any third party.

 

About Downloads

Q: What kind of downloads do you offer?
A: We offer The following download formats:

MP3  (320 kbps) – average size: 150mb to 200mb per album
This is the highest possible quality MP3.  Most download sites only offer 128 kbps or 256 kbps, but we believe the music deserves better! MP3 files are typically compatible with most any audio player.

CD Quality FLAC  (16-bit / 44.1k) – average size: 250mb to 450mb per album
Unlike MP3 files which lose data and sacrifice sound quality in order to achieve a smaller file size, FLAC is a lossless digital format that retains the full sound quality of the original CD.  FLAC files are compatible with many players, but they are NOT compatible with iTunes.

CD Quality Apple Lossless  (16-bit / 44.1k) – average size: 250mb to 450mb per album
Just like the FLAC files described above, the Apple Lossless files retain the full sound quality of the original CD.  These files are compatible with iTunes and most later model iPods, iPhones and iPads

Audiophile FLAC  (24-bit) – average size: 500Mb to 1.5Gb per album
Our high-resolution (24-bit/44.1k) and high-definition (24-bit/96k) FLAC files are direct copies of the original studio masters.  You will need a media player that is compatible with both FLAC format and 24-bit/44.1K or 24-bit/96K audio files. If you’re not sure, then we recommend you try the test files below before purchasing one of these formats, to confirm compatibility with your player and devices.

Audiophile Apple Lossless  (24-bit) – average size: 500Mb to 1.5Gb per album
Just like the FLAC files described above, these are direct copies of the original studio masters.  This is the best choice if you are using iTunes to play your music. Please keep in mind that portable devices like iPhones, iPods and iPads do not play 24-bit/96k files.  If you’re not sure about your ability to play this format, then try these test files to confirm compatibility of your player and devices.

Q: How long does it take to get the downloads I purchase?
A: Download links are emailed to you immediately after your payment is received, and they are also listed on your order confirmation page, as well as in your account. The download links are good for 24 hours, and up to three download attempts. If you have trouble downloading the files within the allotted time, then please email orders@spottedpeccary.com and we will refresh the link. Please keep in mind that the 24-bit files are large and typically take 30 minutes or more to download on a fast internet connection…and much longer on slower connections.

Q: What’s all the fuss about these 24-bit files?
A: Remember the first time you saw a movie on BluRay?  It’s the same thing with these files…you will hear a difference! These are the highest quality files that exist for these releases, and this is the way we hear the music during the mixing and mastering process.  To be honest, it really makes us sad that we have to lower the quality of these pristine masters down to 16-bit/44.1k in order to release the music on CD.

Q: If 24-bit files are so great, then why aren’t more of your releases available in that format?
A: It has only been in recent years that we have been mixing/mastering at 24-bit quality, and any of those titles will be added in the coming months.  Earlier titles were mixed and mastered at 16-bit/44.1k CD-quality, so that’s the highest quality that will be available for those. We will not simply bump 16-bit/44.1k releases to higher bit & sample rates in order to call them high res or high definition. If the project wans’t mastered at 24-bit resolution, then we will not offer it as such.

Q: Why don’t you offer individual tracks as downloads?
A: We believe that music is art, and to us the album concept is sacred. As a label, we offer the music as it was originally envisioned by the artist – as a complete experience.  Of course, there are other online outlets where individual tracks may be purchased individually.

Q: Do you sell multi-channel surround files?
A: We do not.  However if you are interested, surround downloads of many of our releases are available at jhanamusic.com.

 

About The Webshop

Q: How can I see a complete list of what is available?
A: To see a list of ALL music available in the store, just choose “Browse Everything” from the “Shop” menu at the top of every page.

Q: How can I see only CDs by a particular artist?
A: Use the “search the shop” function at the bottom of each page to search for all available items by Artist or Title.

Q: I made a mistake and ordered the wrong CD. Can I change my order?
A: If you contact us right away, we will be happy to make any changes as long as your order has not shipped yet. Likewise, if we find a problem with your order we will attempt to contact you, first by email and then by phone if there is no email response. If we cannot contact you within one week, your order will be cancelled and your payment will be refunded.

Q: Is your On-Line store secure from hackers?
A: Our store is based on a SSL server that encrypts all information during the ordering process and gives you maximum security. In addition, we do not store any of your credit card information on our web servers. You can be sure your information is safe and secure when you place your order with us.

Q: How long does it take to recieve my order in the mail?
A: USA packages can take anywhere from 3 to 18 days, but typically arrive within a week to ten days (may take a few days longer to US territories and APO addresses). Items shipped via Airmail to countries outside the US should take 4-10 business days, however, this could vary depending on the postal service in your country. It is rare for CDs to sit in customs for very long because they are small packets and usually are not searched, however there have been a few cases of long delays due to customs from time to time.
